[ REVIEW ] Papa Recipe Bombee Sheet Mask

If you’re prone to problematic skin like me, then this little mask I’m reviewing for you today will be one to keep your eyes peeled for. Papa Recipe (a brand I’m sure NONE of you have ever heard of before) came into my life accidentally when I cheated on Cosmehut and went to town exploring for skin care items I’ve never seen or used before. Since grabbing my first mask and trying it, I now have a bajillion sitting at home, waiting for me to use them up. Continue reading if you want to know why.

Brand : PAPA RECIPE
Volume : (25g) x 10 Sheets per box

Made in Korea

Nothing too fancy it seems by the poor description I’m leaving you guys. Nonetheless, a lot of you complained that my posts are too longwinded and I should get to the point, so short and sweet biographic product explanations here we come!

Once again, letting you all know that I did get my sheet mask from somewhere else, and not from Cosmehut, since I did venture out into the big city. We now though, stock the masks at work and they’re truly a Godsend. Each box comes with 10 sheets and retail for a pretty decent price, and visiting the right beauty stores can also allow you to score single sheets to try out (if you’re like me and don’t want to waste money on a mask that may disappoint, leaving you with many crappy masks at your disposal).

As per usual, the mask here is covered with a plastic wrapping to protect the paper (a standard that I now expect from all sheet masks) and each packet is single usage only, with 25g per sheet (also a standard for sheet masks; any less than 25g means there is less serum content which obviously means the mask itself won’t be at all powerful).

The packaging is pretty cute, with the design of the honey pot on the front and a well detailed back end of the mask. The sheet itself is very thin and protected with a plastic film to keep the mask in good shape and allows for easy adherence and application to the face. The cut however, is a little annoying for me, as thy made the nose area a little too wide meaning it fits around my nose but leaving gaps on either side so areas aren’t receiving any care whatsoever. The eye holes are also a little too big but overall, it’s not that bad that it’ll put you off using this sheet. The paper is pretty wide as well, suiting the majority of face shapes, so for those with fuller faces, fear not! Those with narrow faces like mine are going to have bits hanging off the edges off your face, but a simple fold over will take care of that, and since the paper is soooooooo thin, you won’t even feel it.

INGREDIENTS: Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Honey Extract, Propolis Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, PVM/MA Copolymer, Trehalose, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Panthenol, Carbomer, Arginine, Disodium EDTA, Allantoin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Schizandra Chinensis Fruit Extract, Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Acorus Gramineus Root/Stem Extract, Perilla Ocymoides Leaf Extract, Fragrance

Now, for the claims. This mask claims to treat dry and parched skin with an abundance of hydration and deep nourishment, control sebum in the skin, repair and heal skin troubles. This mask contains 1,000 ppm of honey and organic propolis extracts which is not only moisturizing but also help control sebum output in the skin. If you’re unfamiliar with propolis, it’s made by bees and is known for it’s immense healing capabilities, and soothing properties. Those of you with damaged skin, or suffer from irritations, acne or sensitivities can benefit from products that contain propolis. Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Mask is made with organic ingredients and doesn’t contain any artificial preservatives so it’s ideal even for sensitive skin types.

I’ve noticed that whenever I use the Bombee masks, my skin heals faster and my acne subsides each and every time. On top of that, my skin is always well nourished, and I find that using this mask in the morning not only kept my skin well protected from sebum secretion, but also kept my skin well moisturized throughout the day. I was never able to wear powder on top of my liquid makeup, but these days, I can and it’s thanks to this mask. The essence in the mask seems lightweight but when absorbed into the skin, it nourishes fairly well, to the extent that following with a cream will be too much. The finish however, is very sticky which will put some of you guys off. I know when I first used the mask, the feeling was strange to me, but bearable, and after using the masks over a period of time, I’ve grown quite accustomed to the sticky finish and enjoy it actually.

The scent is very light, with hints of honey and floral notes that didn’t irritate me whatsoever. I hate overly fragranced products, so this mask was a whiff of fresh air compared to other brands I’ve used in the past. Those who dislike smells just as much as I do, then YMMV depending on what you can tolerate.

PROS:

  • Cheap, $28 for a box of 10 pieces and $3 for a single sheet; located at Cosmehut
  • Very hydrating for the skin, yet not oily feeling
  • Good for those who suffer acne, skin troubles, rough skin texture or sensitivity and irritation
  • The sheet material is very thin, so feels like your skin
  • Fresh, light scent
  • Contains both, honey extracts and propolis which means a stronger anti bacterial and repairing capability in the mask, provided you use the masks regularly
  • Good enough to use in the morning on it’s own, without the need for further moisturization
  • No artificial preservatives, alcohols, added colors

CONS:

  • Very sticky finish
  • YMMV with how your skin reacts to the mask; I suggest opting for one piece first to try before jumping into a whole box
  • YMMV with scents as well; despite myself having no issues with how the product smells, my nose differs from yours so what I like isn’t necessarily what you’d like too.

RATING:

QUALITY ★★★★★
PRICE ★★★★☆
REPURCHASE RATE ★★★★★
OVERALL ★★★★★

★☆☆☆☆ – I want all my time wasted and all my money back for this crap. If I could turn back time and tell my past self not to use this, then I would without a single doubt. If I find this in my collection or if someone gave it to me, I’ll set it on fire and pray to the All Maker to repent for using such a terrible product.

★★☆☆☆ – It’s pretty bad and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this to anybody, but it’s nice to give it a go for myself. I’ll only use it if it was given to me for free and I’m severely desperate.

★★★☆☆ – It’s nice but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get another one for myself. Maybe if it was on special then I’d consider buying it, otherwise there are better products that I like a lot more than this.

★★★★☆ – It’s quite good and I would repurchase definitely. It’s not a staple yet, but if I can’t find anything better, then I’ll happily stick to this product.

★★★★★ – OH MY GOD GET YOUR HANDS ON THIS BECAUSE IT IS A LIFE SAVER AND WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY EVEN IF YOU BECOME POOR BECAUSE OF IT OMG

Now that you know what the stars mean, you can figure out what I mean by my personal ratings.

VERDICT:

Now that I’ve used Papa Recipe’s Bombee Honey Face Mask, I’m honestly not thinking of turning back to try other masks (though my curiosity will eventually get the better of me one day). I’ve literally found my staple sheet mask, and I’m so glad that i stumbled upon this product accidentally as well. Not only is it affordable, but the claims are pretty much spot on, and since the weather here in Perth is slowly cooling down, it’s great to keep my skin well nourished, but at the same time, controlling my oily t-zone without any dramas thus far. I hands down recommend this to you guys all, as I’ve already recommended this to all my customers at work, and everyone has been happy with the mask so far!

    1. No worries man! Actually I do like the Benton mask as well overall, just not so much the paper material. If I had to choose, I’d opt for Paparecipe because it works well and I can wear the mask really comfortably!

      Thanks for reading my post
