Summer here in Australia means hot weather and unmanageable skin. Hot weather means enlarged pores that are prone to clogging and saggy skin. What better time to review the Egg Mousse Pack from the roadside cosmetic brand, Too Cool For School. I’ve been eyeing this product ever since last year, and only now have I been able to test try it and own it for myself. Here are my honest reviews on how this item worked with my skin.
Too Cool for School Egg Mousse Pack is a whipped foam facial mask made from egg white and yolk extracts that create a smooth and radiant complexion in as little as five minutes. It instantly transforms rough, dull skin into more smoother and brighter skin appearance with each use. Egg white purifies the skin to remove dead skin cells and brightens uneven skin for a luminous skin appearance, whilst egg yolk helps to lock in moisture for hydrated and supple skin.
I picked up this wash off mask for two reasons;
- I know that egg is a great ingredient that not only helps with smoothing out the skin, or hydrating, but it has a massive impact on pore cleansing and control. Despite the pack not mentioning anything about the pores whatsoever, I wanted to judge this product on it’s abilities to control the size of my pores and how well it was able to keep them clean for
- Egg is also really good for firming the skin, and although I don’t have any wrinkles or sagging skin, I figured it would be a great experiment to see how diverse this pack can be, not just for it’s claim on hydration.
Though these side claims of mine aren’t really included in the description, I’m taking my own experiences with using pure egg and seeing how this fairs along side my past encounters. Please note however, I will not deduct points off from these extra claims, only from what was given to me. Points will be added however, if my hypothesis did end up being true.
INGREDIENTS: Water, Betaine, Butylene Glycol, Lauryl Phosphate, Isopentane, Trehalose, Carbon Dioxide, Arginine, Potassium Laureth Phosphate, Laureth-1 Phosphate, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Egg Yolk Extract, Albumen Extract, Dipropylene Glycol, Potassium Hydroxide, Glyceryl Caprylate, Caprylyl Glycol, PPG-3 Caprylyl Ether, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkly Acylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance
The ingredients list here is pretty sweet, with only one acne inducing ingredient and one irritant ingredient, both at a level 1 rating for incredibly minor likelihood of causing you guys any harm whatsoever. The stand out ingredient for me here, is not the egg yolk, but the carbon dioxide. I’m not too sure if you guys are aware, but canon dioxide has been recently implemented into skincare as the new must have ingredient for pore care and hydration. Using carbon dioxide on your skin not only cleanses the pores very well, but aids in tightening them too, as well as keeping moisture looked into the skin, when combined with humectants or hydrating ingredients. So far, the pore care hypothesis seems to be leaning in my favor.
The packaging (which I usually don’t talk about when I do reviews) is a little bit different to what you’d expect from a mask. This is a metal tube, almost aerosol like, with a nozzle that you press down to dispense your mask. It comes out as a foam from the nozzle and you apply the foam directly onto your skin. The only other nozzle type canned mask I used was the Deep Foam Clear from POLA and I really hated the design of it. I was worried that just like the POLA, the TCFS (To Cool For School) would have seeped out from the opening after dispensing the mask, but it didn’t. You only get what you squeeze out, and that’s what I wished the POLA was able to do. Two thumbs up on packaging for me. As per usual, it’s shelf life is pretty standard; after opening gives you 12 months before expiration.
The first thing I noticed with the mask was the scent. It was light, but a little citrusy, with no notes of egg whatsoever. I hate the smell of egg, so I’m glad they used a light fragrance to mask any off putting odors. For the actual mask itself, the consistency is incredibly thick and mousey when it first comes out of the can. When you apply the mask to your skin, it feels a little a cloud or a pillow. It’s so soft and the foam literally cushions for skin very well. I found the consistency a little weird for my liking since it’s so soft, but you get used to it. The foam is white in color and is meant to be applied in a light layer on your skin. You genuinely only need a pea sized amount to cover your entire face. Any more than that, and your layer is probably too thick for your skin.
After about five or so minutes, the mask will start to become clear in color and look like a layer of hydration on your skin, and this is normal. When using normal egg, you’ll find that the mixture will turn clear on your skin, so this mask is supposed to replicate that same action. Don’t be alarmed when your mask looks to be disappearing before your very eyes, because it’s normal.
Once the mask is almost “gone” wash off with warm water, follow with a few splashes of cold water to constrict the pores and follow with the rest of your skincare. When I used the mask, I was shocked when my skin started to tingle. It felt really itchy, but not in a bad way. It wasn’t an itch from irritations, more of an itch that you get when something bubbles or fizzes on your skin. The carbon dioxide works it’s magic on your skin the moment you apply the mask. You’ll feel the mask popping, and sometimes even hear it pop, and this is all normal as well.
As for the results, I did notice that my skin looked and felt more smoother, more softer, but not in the slightest more hydrated. Sure, my skin didn’t feel dry after using the mask, but I can’t say my skin felt like it drank any water, because, matter of fact, it didn’t. On a normal day, my skin felt as hydrated as it did prior to using the mask. Maybe on days I felt oilier, my skin was squeaky clean without the dry feeling you get, but otherwise, nothing.
Pores however changed significantly. I noticed that my pores were not only cleaned out incredibly well, but they also appeared more uniform in shape and tighter as well. I can safely say that even though this mask doesn’t claim to control your pores, this mask does it incredibly well. If you have pore problems then get your hands on this. As for skin tightening, it did a mediocre job, but my skin did feel a little bit tighter after using the mask, ad that’s worth noting as well. I wouldn’t claim this to be good for those with deep set wrinkles, or are looking for anti aging. If, however, you’re like me and taking gentle steps to reduce the onsetting of future aging, then this is enough for you.

- Foamy consistency that feels gentle on the skin
- Goes on white, dries clear which give you an easy indication on when to rinse your face
- Smoothens skin and makes skin appear brighter
- Great for pore care
- Tightens skin middy for those who are starting off their anti aging routines early
- Great packaging design
- A little bit goes a very long way with this mask
- Contains 100mL of product, so it will last you quite a while
- Contains carbon dioxide, an ingredient now idolized for the ability of pore care
- Decently priced at $20 for one bottle, or $25 for a set including ONE mask and ONE cleanser
CONS:
- Not too good in the hydration care that it claims to offer
- Being an aerosol can, you MUST keep this away from sunlight and heat otherwise, it can explode
- Nozzle feature may not be everyone’s cup of tea
- Scent may put people off, although I found it to be light
- A bit messy to work with, as you can see it got into my hair and all over the place in the second image

★☆☆☆☆ – I want all my time wasted and all my money back for this crap. If I could turn back time and tell my past self not to use this, then I would without a single doubt. If I find this in my collection or if someone gave it to me, I’ll set it on fire and pray to the All Maker to repent for using such a terrible product.
★★☆☆☆ – It’s pretty bad and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this to anybody, but it’s nice to give it a go for myself. I’ll only use it if it was given to me for free and I’m severely desperate.

Now that you know what the stars mean, you can figure out what I mean by my personal ratings.
VERDICT:
Overall, I must say that this is a mask that’s worth being implemented in everyone’s skincare routine when they first start. For skincare veterans who have probably gone through it all, skip past this mask whenever you go shopping, unless you’re severely intrigued by it and want to give it a shot. It’s good for what it’s worth and definitely cheap, but there are better masks out there. My ending impression sounds negative, but I only have praises for this mask at the end of the day. If you want something that addresses your skin condition and your pores, and your skin type fits in between normal to oily, then this mask will work wonders for you. It’s also budget friendly, lasts a long time, a great introduction to skincare for those starting out, and works pretty well.
